WhatsApp status updates soon will be shared automatically on Facebook
Meta, previously known as Facebook, has a significant dominance over popular social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp. It’s understandable that the lines between these platforms can be blurred, and features from one platform often migrate to the other. One example of this is the current development of the automatic sharing feature for WhatsApp status updates to Facebook.
Recently, Instagram added a feature that lets you share your temporary Stories to Facebook easily, without leaving the Instagram app. Now, a similar feature might be coming to WhatsApp too. This means that once you turn it on, any new status update you post on WhatsApp will also be posted on Facebook automatically.
In WhatsApp’s Settings menu, there is a new option called “Always share to Facebook story” under “Status Privacy”. This toggle lets users decide whether or not they want to use the automatic sharing feature we talked about earlier. People had already seen it being developed for iOS, and now it has been confirmed that it’s also available for Android in the v2.23.9.13 beta version.
Before this latest update, it was already possible to repost your WhatsApp status updates on Facebook, but you had to do it manually every time. According to WABetaInfo, this will change with the new update. Once you turn on the toggle, the process will be automatic. All you have to do is update your status on WhatsApp, and it will automatically appear on Facebook.
This new feature will be very helpful for people who post a lot of temporary content and want to share it on multiple social media platforms for maximum exposure. It will save time and effort by automating the process. However, some people may be hesitant to use it because they share personal information on WhatsApp that they don’t want to share on Facebook. Luckily, Meta is giving WhatsApp users control over this feature, so they can decide whether or not to turn it on. It won’t be forced on them by default.
